Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer - Hydraulics serves as the technical subject matter expert (SME) and offers guidance, support and direction to the wider Engineering and workshop teams.

 

This role collaborates with the broader Engineering and workshop teams to deliver hydraulic design projects, ensuring they meet quality, safety, functionality, acts and regulations, Australian Standards, cost, and schedule requirements. Additionally, the role ensures compliance with QMS 9001 certification, Engineering Design and Documentation Standards, safety practices, value engineering, and vendor management.

 

This role requires a deep understanding of Hydraulic design, skills to support WesTrac's activities in Perth Metro and Regionally while fostering collaboration with Engineering NSW.

 

Location: South Guildford, WA

Roster: Monday – Friday, 8 hour days

 

To be successful the following is required: 

 

  • Design, direct, guide, support and manage all aspects of assigned work from start to finish, ensuring all tasks are completed within set time and budgetary constraints.
  • Review the work of other engineers and technical staff against safety, functionality, acts and regulations, AS standards and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Prepare 3D model and 2D fabrication drawings. Ensure that all design and engineering strictly comply with, client and company standards.
  • Prepare and manage engineering projects, encompassing specification, design, validation and life cycle cost. Prepare hydraulic systems condition assessment report.
  • Develop and maintain specifications, drawings, procedures, manuals for mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to the project and workshop teams.
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic system, hydraulic engineering principles, fluid mechanics, model and simulation. Make technical decisions, engage and supervise resources in the areas of hydraulic systems, manufacturing, and safety.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex hydraulic systems and propose effective solutions. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • A professional engineer (CPEng desirable) accreditation and membership at Engineers Australia is required.
