Reporting to the Business Unit Manager – Digger & Drill Services, the Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in growing WesTrac's market presence by developing strong partnerships across the mining industry and identifying opportunities to expand our Digger & Drill Services portfolio.

Working closely with mining customers and internal stakeholders to secure a pipeline of major shutdown work. The role will lead the commercial development of modular component solutions, aligning customer demand, asset lifecycle requirements, and business objectives to deliver sustainable, high-margin growth while enhancing the overall customer experience.

 

Roster – Monday – Friday 8.5 hours a day (including unpaid meal break)

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Drive business growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing new commercial opportunities, strategic partnerships, and market expansion initiatives across the mining sector, with a focus on WesTrac's digger and drill service offerings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mining customers, key decision-makers, operational leaders, and industry stakeholders to generate and convert new business opportunities.
  • Analyse market trends, customer needs, fleet performance, and sales data to identify growth opportunities and provide strategic recommendations that strengthen WesTrac's position within the mining industry.
  • Lead customer engagement activities, including site visits, presentations, proposals, and commercial negotiations, delivering tailored digger and drill service solutions that improve customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations, technical, and support teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences, ensuring services align with customer objectives and operational requirements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for Digger and Drill customers, proactively managing relationships, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities to expand service offerings.
  • Maintain compliance with organisational policies, safety standards, and industry regulations while contributing to continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development.

 

About you:

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Mining, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience in business development, mining services, or heavy equipment operations.
  • Experience with CRM systems and lead generation activities, including opportunity management and pipeline tracking.
  • Proven business development experience within the WA mining industry, with the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated success in identifying, developing, and securing new service opportunities.
  • Sound understanding of mining maintenance, shutdowns, heavy equipment, and Digger & Drill operations.
  • Established networks and relationships within the Western Australian mining sector will be highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across customer and operational teams.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a strong focus on delivering customer value and business growth.
