Operations Manager - New Machines Mining

Reporting to the Group Manager, the Operations Manager is accountable for the management of allocated locations within WA, maintaining operational focus to deliver efficiency, effectiveness, strategic business group planning, and financial performance. The prime responsibility of this role is to support and develop teams, setting them up for success to achieve their goals and contribute to the overarching strategic plan.
Roster: Mon – Fri 8.5 hours per day (including unpaid meal breaks)
Location: South Guildford, WA
What you’ll do:
- Lead safety culture: Drive and sustain a strong safety-first environment through leadership behaviours and compliance with safety metrics
- Develop and support teams: Build capability, engagement, and accountability across multi-functional teams through communication, talent management, and succession planning
- Manage operational efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase profitability while delivering service excellence
- Oversee financial performance: Manage budgets, monitor financial metrics, and ensure cost-effective operations across allocated business units
- Strategic planning: Develop and implement 2–3 year operational plans aligned with corporate goals and long-term business strategy
- Customer and stakeholder engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, secure new revenue opportunities, and improve customer loyalty
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work with peers across business groups to ensure alignment, resource optimisation, and delivery of operational plans
- Continuous improvement: Promote a culture of innovation and embed continuous improvement practices to challenge existing processes and drive transformation
- Reward and recognition: Establish programs that value employee contributions, improve retention, and foster a positive workplace culture
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in business, engineering, or associated discipline with a minimum of 10 years’ experience, or a Diploma of Management with at least 12 years’ industry experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior management position within a similar industry
- Demonstrated experience within heavy industry technology in either a consulting or project management capacity
- Proven ability to lead multi-functional teams to achieve outcomes within tight timeframes
- Strong business acumen and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage budgets, analyse data, and compile reports
- Advanced communication skills — written, verbal, and interpersonal — across multiple levels of the organisation
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and ensure deadlines are achieved
