Reporting to the Area Manager – New Machines Mining, the New Machines Supervisor will join our team on a fulltime basis FIFO to our customer sites. This role involves leading the Fleet Delivery execution team, ensuring safe, high‑quality, and efficient new machine builds. The role is accountable for delivering an exceptional customer experience through strong compliance to plan, effective leadership, and consistent delivery of machines that meet Caterpillar, customer, and WesTrac standards. This includes guiding trades, non‑trades, and contractors across all aspects of safety, training, coaching, and task allocation to achieve high performance and customer satisfaction.

 

Roster – 8 days on 6 days off, 12.5 hour days (including unpaid meal break)

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture by conducting risk assessments, support Prestart meetings, and ensure safe systems of work.
  • Identify skills gaps, assign tasks clearly, and oversee performance, scheduling, handovers, and labour forecasting to ensure efficient execution and minimise rework.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop the team by setting clear KPIs, completing performance and succession planning, and communicating departmental objectives while supporting change initiatives.
  • Deliver machine builds to plan by maintaining accurate reporting, correct cost allocation, and effective warranty processes while holding weekly planning meetings and escalating any deviations.
  • Build strong customer and stakeholder relationships by ensuring machine builds meet agreed quality, timeframe, and budget expectations while driving continuous improvement through CPS meetings, CI initiatives, and effective communication of improvement and capital needs.

 

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Proven leadership in a similar industry, with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in heavy machinery or high‑risk environments.
  • Strong safety commitment, problem‑solving ability, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • S26 level training required; OEM experience desirable.
