Laboratory Technician

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will join our team on a full-time basis at our South Guilford location. This role requires conducting tests and analysis of fluid samples, including oil, coolant, fuel, and grease to ensure the accuracy and quality of results before release, and occasionally assists with preparing samples for analysis.

 

Roster – Monday to Friday, fortnightly rotating rosters 6:00am – 2:30pm and 2:00pm – 10:30pm, with optional Saturday morning overtime available

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Lead with integrity and safety, modelling company values while driving a strong HS&E culture and ensuring safe, compliant work practices.
  • Operate fluid‑analysis instruments such as viscometers, particle counters, FTIR, IC, and ICP‑OES, and carry out routine maintenance or basic troubleshooting as required
  • Conduct testing and analysis of oil, coolant, fuel, and grease samples to ensure accurate, high‑quality results, while supporting sample preparation as required
  • Work alongside a cutting-edge laboratory automation system exclusive to WesTrac WA – the only lab of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region

 

 

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (or higher),
  • Experience in a laboratory environment – fast‑paced, high volume lab experience desirable
  • Instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and experience with automation systems will be highly considered
  • Strong computer skills (Windows & Office essential; LIMS experience desirable)
  • Comfortable with manual handling and flexible to work varying shifts, including occasional weekends
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to work both independently and in a close‑knit team
