Laboratory Team Leader

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Team Lead will join our South Guildford Laboratory on a full-time basis. This role is responsible for providing high-level operational support to the Laboratory Supervisor, ensuring laboratory tasks and workflows are completed efficiently and safely, and supporting laboratory team members with general inquiries related to day-to-day operations.
Roster: 5:2 (Mon – Fri) 2 weeks of day shift (06:00 – 14:30) 2 weeks of afternoon shift (14:00 – 22:30) with Saturdays being optional overtime
Location: South Guildford, WA
What you’ll do:
- Provide high-level operational support to the Laboratory Supervisor, ensuring efficient and safe completion of laboratory tasks and workflows
- Assist laboratory team members with general inquiries related to day-to-day operations
- Complete shift handovers and PSI’s, and report critical information, updates, and issues to the Laboratory Supervisor promptly
- Play a role in the training and upskilling of laboratory staff
- Report and escalate critical matters such as stock levels, instrument outages, and productivity issues to the Laboratory Supervisor
- Act as a back-up and delegate in the absence of the Laboratory Supervisor
- Assist the Laboratory Supervisor with staff management duties, including rosters and performance reviews, when requested
Skills and Experience:
- Certificate 3 in Lab Skills or higher
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office, LIMS) and understanding of Cat SOS systems
- Desired knowledge of Cat VisionLink and automation systems
- Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience and 1 year of team leadership
- High levels of customer service and robust leadership skills
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Advanced time management, planning, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail with data entry accuracy and ability to work both in a team and autonomously
