IT Senior Network Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network & Communications Engineer to join our Information Technology team. This role plays a critical part in the design, implementation and support of WesTrac’s enterprise network across a large, highly distributed operational environment.
Reporting to the Network & Unified Communications Lead, you will provide deep technical expertise across core networking and security platforms, contribute to architectural design decisions, and support the ongoing modernisation, security and reliability of our network infrastructure. This is a hands‑on senior technical role with strong influence across both project delivery and operational support.
Location: South Guildford
Roster: Mon to Fri 8.5 hours per day (including lunch break)
What you will do:
- Design, implement and support enterprise network and communications solutions across WesTrac’s distributed footprint
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to network operational support teams
- Contribute to high‑level solution designs, detailed technical designs, statements of work and bills of materials
- Support and enhance Cisco SD‑WAN, Software‑Defined Access (SDA), Cisco Catalyst Centre and Cisco ISE platforms
- Provide strong design input and operational support for Palo Alto firewall environments
- Ensure network solutions meet security, resilience, scalability and performance requirements
- Maintain accurate technical documentation aligned with organisational standards and governance
- Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement, optimisation and technology uplift
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to business and technical leaders on major initiatives
Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in enterprise network design, implementation and support
- Demonstrated expertise across Cisco networking technologies, including SD‑WAN and SDA
- Strong operational capability with Cisco Catalyst Centre and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
- Solid experience supporting Palo Alto firewall platforms
- Advanced knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF, BGP and EIGRP
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise wireless networks
- Capability across Cisco Nexus datacentre switching environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications (preferred):
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP or CCIE
Desirable:
- Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager), Unity and UCCX
