Our Heavy Mining Shovels (HMS) & Drill Rigs business unit is currently growing with new workshops, facilities & future development planned to commence in the coming months.

 

The Hydraulic Mining Shovel Technician is accountable to increase the all-round performance, reliability, and availability of the designated HMS product line. This is a hands-on role with emphasis on providing team lead as required to ensure technical assistance and best in class support for the customer site maintenance teams and WesTrac project work group.

 

The HMS (Digger) Specialist is the link between the Customer, Westrac and Caterpillar for all HMS technical product information, documentation, and continuous improvement concepts within the operations maintenance HMS support role. This role will pro-actively assist with HMS preventative maintenance schedules, maintenance teams for planning work scopes, HMS trouble shooting, technical reporting and product instruction/training strategies to improve HMS product knowledge to the wider work group.

 

Location:  FIFO from Perth - Will pay for Interstate Traveling

Roster Options (Inclusive of Super and based on experience):

8:6 (8 days on, 6 off – 12-hour shifts) 

2:1 (14 days on, 7 off – 12-hour shifts) 

2:2 (14 days on, 14 off – 12-hour shifts) 

 

To be successful the following is required: 

  • HD Plant mechanic qualification/certification
  • HR-Licence
  • 5+ years post trade relevant experience including Field Service exposure with Hydraulic Mining Shovels
  • CAT/OEM Dealership experience with CAT/Terex/Bucyrus fleet HMS 2+ years
  • High level of competence on mobile hydraulic & low voltage electrical systems used in Hydraulic Mining Shovels
  • Demonstrated understanding of HMS machine application on site, optimum operation knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to apply safe systems of work and implement risk control measures
  • Ability to work autonomously or with others & lead customer work groups onsite, instruct/teach & knowledge share
  • HMS commissioning and hydraulic tune up experience
  • Advanced competency to interpret and administer Caterpillar troubleshooting guidelines

 

Education/Certificates

  • Relevant Mechanical HD trade qualification with a minimum of 5+ years’ maintenance experience with Hydraulic Mining Shovels
  • High Risk Work License - Working at Height, EWP, Forklift/Telehandler
  • Dogging /Riggers certification
  • Driver’s License – Australian valid – Class C, HR
