Reporting to the General Manager – Safety, Security, Risk, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for contributing to the Health and Safety strategy development and its successful execution within the relevant state business unit, whilst ensuring that compliance with the relevant legislation and business requirements are maintained. It provides leadership to the WA Health and Safety team with the aim of ensuring that WesTrac adheres to industry best practice, thereby enabling the business to meet the relevant legislative requirements and the provision of an environment free from harm.

 

Location: South Guildford

Roster:  Mon – Fri, 8.5 hours (including lunch break)

 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Work with the General Manager Risk, Safety Security to develop and implement a coordinated approach between the NSW and WA dealerships to promote health and safety within the workplace, reduce injuries, and ensure that WesTrac’s employees, contractors and visitors adhere to legislative duty of care requirements
  • Analyse and communicate safety trends to the General Manager Risk, Safety Security and provide guidance on safety strategies and actions needed to achieve continuous improvements in safety
  • Work with relevant teams to understand matters that are impacting safety performance and work with management to mitigate any issues
  • Provide training, mentoring, coaching and development opportunities to ensure team members are provided with necessary skills to successful embed a proactive safety culture within the business
  • Oversee the coordination of Health and Safety activities aimed at delivering a psychosocially safe culture within the business
  • Ensure delivery of allocated HSE projects and operational objectives, managing and mitigating risks, monitoring progress, and effectively engaging resources to achieve the required outcomes within agreed budget and timeframes.

 

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Tertiary qualification within the field of Work Health and Safety, Quality Management or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ people management experience
  • Demonstrate strong leadership traits, demonstrate continuous drive to influence positive changes in safety culture.
  • Advanced time management, planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication (interpersonal, written and verbal) and public speaking skills
  • Advanced computer literacy skills (MS Office Suite)
