The HD Mechanic Specialist is accountable to increase the all-around performance, reliability, and availability of the traditional Caterpillar Fleet product line. This is a hands-on role with emphasis on providing team lead as required to ensure technical assistance and best-in-class support for the customer site maintenance teams and Westrac project work group.

 

The HD Mechanic Specialist is the link between the Customer, WesTrac and Caterpillar for all Caterpillar Traditional Fleet product technical maintenance information, documentation, and continuous improvement with maintenance support process. This role will pro-actively assist with Caterpillar preventative maintenance schedules, maintenance teams for planning work scopes trouble shooting, technical reporting and product instruction/training strategies to improve Caterpillar product knowledge to the assigned work group.

 

This role attracts a specialist allowance which is highly competitive and above all other allowances.

 

Location: FIFO from Perth

Roster Options (Inclusive of Super, allowances, and based on experience):

8:6 (8 days on, 6 off – 12-hour shifts) - $235,000 - $242,000

2:1 (14 days on, 7 off – 12-hour shifts) - $274,000 - $283,000

2:2 (14 days on, 14 off – 12-hour shifts) - $205,000 - $212,000

 

To be successful the following is required: 

  • Relevant HD Plant mechanic qualification/certification with 10+ years post trade relevant experience including Field Service exposure of traditional product (CAT)
  • HR-Licence
  • Caterpillar Dealership experience with traditional Caterpillar Equipment 6+ years
  • Apply safe systems of work and implement risk control measures
  • Demonstrated understanding of traditional Caterpillar machine application on site, optimum operation knowledge
  • High level of competence on mobile hydraulic & low voltage electrical systems/schematics
  • Ability to lead/work with others & customer work groups onsite, instruct/teach & knowledge share
  • Advanced ability to interpret & repair via Caterpillar fault-finding guides
  • Proficient in the use of Caterpillar software programs, Sis2, ET, DBS
  • Provide a high level of diagnostic feedback to WesTrac support team/customer

 

Education/Certificates

  • High Risk Work License - Working at Height, EWP, Forklift/Telehandler
  • Dogging /Riggers certification
  • Driver's License – Australian valid – Class C, HR
