About the Role

As a Component Technician in our Powertrain Strip section, you’ll support the disassembly workflow by cleaning, preparing, transporting, and staging components for strip‑down. You will work closely with experienced technicians across the Final Drive and Transmission strip areas, ensuring components are ready for both pre‑strip and post‑strip processes.

This role offers exposure to a wide range of CAT components and provides a genuine pathway into technical strip‑down work. With strong performance, you can progress into stripping Final Drives or Transmissions and further develop your mechanical skillset.

 

Roster

  • Monday to Friday – 10.5 hrs per day (including 30‑minute unpaid break)
  •  Rotating shifts: 2 weeks day shift, 2 weeks night shift

 

What You’ll Do

  • Clean, prep, and bring powertrain parts back to life using washers, degreasers, and specialist equipment
  • Work across the Component Cleaning Area and wash bay
  • Work side‑by‑side with technicians in the Final Drive & Transmission strip areas
  • Move, stage, and organise components to keep the workflow moving at pace
  • Use forklifts to transport heavy components safely
  • Set up assemblies for inspection and strip‑down
  • Prep components, transport assemblies, and maintain a clean, organised workspace
  • Contribute to 5S and continuous improvement across the workshop

 

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Trade Assistant in a mechanical or workshop setting
  •  Forklift licence essential; Dogging ticket highly desirable (or willingness to obtain)
  •  Experience with small or large engines/components strongly advantageous
  • Strong work ethic and a reliable, positive attitude
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  •  Familiarity with safety processes such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Take 5’s
