WesTrac is excited to introduce the Caterpillar Technician Academy - a paid, immersive training program designed to help passionate individuals kick-start their careers in the heavy machinery industry.

 

Whether you are a school leaver, career changer, or simply curious about a hands-on technical role, this program is your gateway to an exciting future at one of Australia’s most advanced rebuild centres. No prior experience is needed; just a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and alignment with our SPARC values: Safety, Pride, Accountability, Respect, and Customer. Department Overview: WesTrac’s Component Rebuild Centre in South Guildford is one of the largest and most advanced facilities of its kind in Australia. Here, our expert technicians perform Cat-certified rebuilds on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and more, utilising genuine Cat parts and state-of-the-art diagnostics to restore components to like-new performance. Operating in a high-tech, safety-driven environment, the Centre delivers a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to purchasing new components.

 

About the Program:

• A 17-week program blending classroom learning at the Caterpillar Institute and practical, hands-on experience at WesTrac’s state-of-the-art Guildford Component Rebuild Centre (CRC).

• Develop essential skills in assembly and disassembly to boost your technical confidence and prepare for real-world challenges.

• Gain certifications in safety procedures, contamination control, and dogging ticket - skills that are highly valued across the industry.

• Train alongside experienced mentors in a supportive, inclusive environment that’s invested in your success.

• Upon completion, transition directly into a full-time Technician role at WesTrac’s Guildford CRC.

• Receive a competitive wage during training, with an increase once you move into your full-time role.

 

Program start date and roster:

• Program start date: Monday 2nd March 2026

• Roster (during program) - Monday to Friday, 8 hours, day shift only.

• Roster (post program) - Monday to Friday, 10 hours/day (2 weeks - day shift, 2 weeks - night shift)

 

Skills & Experience:

• No experience needed, drive and a willingness to learn.

• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.

• Someone who is aligned with our SPARC values (Safety, Pride, Accountability, Respect and Customer)

• Over 18 years of age by commencement of program (2nd March 2026)
