Join WesTrac, Australia’s largest Caterpillar dealer, as we expand our Component Rebuild Centre (CRC) Machine Shop. With major investment in new CNC machinery, a strong pipeline of mining and industrial work, and 24/7 operations, we are seeking experienced First Class Machinists / CRC Machinists to support continued growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist, Manual Machinist, Fitter Machinist or Borer Operator with exposure to heavy components.

 

About the Role – CRC Machinist

Based at our South Guildford Component Rebuild Centre, you will perform precision machining and component rebuild work on large Caterpillar mining and earthmoving components in a modern, well‑equipped Machine Shop.

You will operate a combination of CNC and manual machining equipment, delivering high‑quality machining outcomes while meeting safety, quality and turnaround requirements.

Machinery Includes:

  • CNC Horizontal Borer
  • Manual Vertical Borer
  • CNC Vertical Boring Machine
  • CNC Mill

 

Key Responsibilities

  • CNC and manual machining of large mining and industrial components
  • Component repair, reclaim and refurbishment within the CRC environment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Machine to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment
  • Operate horizontal and vertical boring machines safely and efficiently
  • Meet production targets and customer delivery expectations
  • Follow safety procedures including JSAs and Take 5s
  • Work within quoted timeframes while maintaining high quality standards

 

Roster

  • 4 days on / 4 days off / 4 nights on / 4 days off
  • 12.5‑hour shifts (includes 30‑minute unpaid meal break)

 

About You

  • Strong experience as a CRC Machinist, CNC Machinist or Manual Machinist
  • experience with horizontal boring machines and vertical boring machines (desirable)
  • High attention to detail and ability to hold tight tolerances
  • Skilled with measuring tools (callipers, micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges)
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • Basic computer literacy for job tracking and reporting
  • Desirable: Forklift, dogging or rigging tickets
