Reporting to the Project Superintendent, the Product Support Advisor is responsible for maximising fleet availability and equipment reliability by providing expert technical guidance and maintenance support across a large, complex mining fleet.


This is a hands on advisory role with approximately 80% less tool time than a traditional technician position. You will focus on diagnostics, technical support, and best practice maintenance outcomes, while still performing repairs and maintenance on Caterpillar equipment when required.


Fleet Overview
You will support a diverse Caterpillar fleet including:
•     793F and 789D Autonomous Haul Trucks
•     994 Wheel Loaders
•     6040 and 6060 Hydraulic Mining Excavators
•     D10 and D11 Track-Type Tractors
•     MD6250 and MD6310 Production Drills
•     Various Caterpillar ancillary equipment


Location: Gudai Darri – Rio Tinto / North-west Newman 


Roster:  FIFO from Perth only - 8 days on, 6 off – 12.5 hours each day (inc. 30 mins break)


Key Responsibilities:
•     Provide technical advice and maintenance support to improve fleet performance and reliability
•     Conduct fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and targeted repair support as required
•     Perform fleet performance reviews and identify opportunities to improve availability and    
      reduce operating costs
•     Undertake regular inspections across multiple equipment types including drills, loaders, 
      graders, dozers, excavators, and off highway trucks
•     Support maintenance teams in applying best practice repair and maintenance standards


To be successful the following is required:
•     Australian-recognised Heavy Mobile Plant Trade Certificate with post trade experience.
•     Mining experience is highly desirable or similar work capacity.
•     Customer relationship building skills.
•     The ability to advise, train, offer good customer service and jump on the tools when needed.
•     Comprehensive maintenance and repairs experience on a range of Caterpillar mining fleet.
•     Be well aligned and exhibit WesTrac’s SPARC values - Safety, Pride, Accountability, 
      Respect and Customer.
•     Current Australian Drivers Licence.
•     High Risk Work Licence – Forklift, EWP, Dogging/Rigging, Working Safely at Heights are  
      preferred.
