Reporting to the Gudai-Darri WesTrac Superintendent, the Mechanician is responsible for the diagnosis, calibration, commissioning and ongoing support of the MineStar range of systems on Caterpillar (CAT) and other Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) machines in accordance with manufacturer standards, customer requirements and WesTrac’s core SPARC values and Life Saving Commitments.
 
The Mechanician is also responsible for the ongoing advanced diagnostics and continuous improvements of base machine mechanical/electrical maintenance for all Caterpillar (CAT) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) machines fitted with Caterpillar Technology, where base machine interface impacts the operation of the Technology equipment.
 
Location: Gudai Darri

Roster: This will be a FIFO Roster, 8 days on 6 off, 7 nights on 7 off, 12 hours per day.
 
To be successful the following is required: 
•      An Australian recognised Heavy Mobile Technology or Automotive Electrical Technology Trade 
       Certificate 
•      Advanced diagnostics skills in hydraulic, pneumatic and heavy-diesel systems, AND/OR Advanced 
       experience in Machine Control & Guidance
•      Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain successful 
       working relationships
•      Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and Technical Specifications
•      Previous experience in a mining environment

What You’ll Do:
•      Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on AHS-enabled CAT and OEM machines.
•      Install, calibrate, and commission MineStar system components
•      Troubleshoot and repair CAT surface machine systems
•      Create and review technical documentation and schematics
•      Deliver exceptional customer service and support site operations
•      Ensure QA/QC standards are met for all installations and repairs.
