HD Mechanic Auto Electrician

Reporting to the Gudai-Darri WesTrac Superintendent - The Mechanician is responsible for the diagnosis, calibration, commissioning and ongoing support of the MineStar range of systems on Caterpillar (CAT) and other Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) machines in accordance with manufacturer standards, customer requirements and WesTrac’s core SPARC values and Life Saving Commitments.

 

Roster:  FIFO Roster, 8 days on 6 off, 7 nights on 7 off, 12 hours per day

Location: Guadi Darri FIFO ex Perth

 

What you’ll do:

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and continuous improvements on mechanical/electrical maintenance for Caterpillar (CAT) and OEM machines with Caterpillar Technology.
  • Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting where base machine interfaces impact the operation of Technology equipment.
  • Lead a team and produce detailed reports on maintenance activities and improvements.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic skills in hydraulic, pneumatic, and heavy-diesel systems, or experience in Machine Control & Guidance.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build successful working relationships.
  • Implement and drive Continuous Improvement initiatives across all aspects of the role.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and technical specifications, completing technical and administrative documentation to a high standard.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • It is essential to either have a HD mechanical, Auto Electrical Trade Certificate or 2 years MCG expertise on Minestar system, coupled with a minimum 3 years’ experience in an Auto Electronic / Communications / Electronics Technician / Mechanical Fitter role
  • Advanced diagnostics skills in hydraulic, pneumatic and heavy-diesel systems, AND/OR Advanced experience in Machine Control & Guidance
  • Team Leadership and excellent report writing skills
  • Prior experience utilising Technology products or similar Fleet Management Systems (Desirable)
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain successful working relationships
  • Understands and drives Continuous Improvement initiatives across all aspects of the role (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated windows-based IT systems knowledge and understanding of communications and networking principles
  • Knowledge and experience in Surveying, Geomatics or a related field highly regarded (Desirable)
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and Technical Specifications
  • Ability to complete technical and administrative documentation to a high standard (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience in Minestar hardware and software installations, configurations, and troubleshooting (Desirable)
  • Previous experience in a mining environment (Essential)
