HD Mechanic / Auto Electrical Technician

Reporting to the Gudai-Darri WesTrac Superintendent - The Mechanician role involves performing mechanical, electrical, and AHS fault finding, repairs, scheduled component change-outs, servicing, and commissioning on Caterpillar mining equipment. You'll be part of a skilled and supportive team of technicians, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of a cutting-edge autonomous fleet.
We are seeking a qualified HD Fitter or Auto Electrician with proven experience working on Caterpillar Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS).
Roster: FIFO Roster, 8 days on 6 off, 7 nights on 7 off, 12 hours per day
Location: Guadi Darri FIFO ex Perth
What you’ll do:
- Carry out diagnostics and maintenance on mechanical/electrical systems for Caterpillar (CAT) and OEM machines using Caterpillar Technology
- Assist with troubleshooting where machine systems interact with onboard technology
- Support team operations and contribute to maintenance planning and improvement initiatives
- Apply practical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel systems, or show interest in learning Machine Control & Guidance technologies
- Deliver great customer service and help foster strong working relationships
- Participate in ongoing improvement efforts across the role
- Read and interpret schematics and technical documents, and complete job-related paperwork accurately
Skills and Experience:
- Must hold a HD Mechanical or Auto Electrical Trade Certificate, or have 2 years’ experience working with Minestar systems
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant role such as Auto Electrical, Communications, Electronics Technician or Mechanical Fitter
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic and diesel systems, OR interest in Machine Control & Guidance technologies
- Willingness to support and guide others in a team environment
- Experience with technology products or fleet management systems is a bonus
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Basic understanding of IT systems and networking principles
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical specifications
- Experience with Minestar hardware/software setup and troubleshooting is desirable
- Prior experience in a mining environment is essential
