Field Service Plant Mechanic | Dubbo

WesTrac is seeking an experienced and motivated Field Service Plant Mechanic to join our growing team in Dubbo.

Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing CAT equipment on customer sites - including dozers, loaders, and off‑highway trucks. This role is hands‑on, fast‑paced and highly autonomous, supporting customers with breakdowns, fault-finding, emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance to keep their operations moving.

As the go‑to specialist for all diagnostic and troubleshooting needs, you will draw on your strong Caterpillar product knowledge and field service experience to identify issues quickly, deliver high‑quality repairs, and minimise equipment downtime. Your ability to work independently, think critically and uphold CAT and WesTrac standards will be key to your success in this role.

With a strong focus on safety, workmanship, and customer service, this is an excellent opportunity to showcase your technical expertise while working with industry‑leading machinery and diagnostic technology across the region.


Roster Options

  • Monday to Friday – day shift only
  • 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Annual earnings: $125,000 – $160,000

*Above rates are a guide; each candidate will be assessed on skill and experience

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or Mechanical trade qualification (Australian Recognised) with heavy industry experience
  • Caterpillar product knowledge and maintenance experience
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills and a strong commitment to service excellence
  • Excellent attitude to your work, and dedication to safe work practices
  • Ability to work autonomously in the field and in a team
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Applicants with site bans are ineligible for Field Service Positions
