WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR | CANBERRA


WesTrac is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Workshop Supervisor to join our team in Canberra on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Workshop Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Leading a team of skilled tradespeople - including Plant Mechanics, Apprentices, and Field Service Technicians – you will work collaboratively to meet project timelines and uphold WesTrac’s commitment to excellence.

This role focuses on fostering a strong safety culture, driving productivity, and maintaining compliance across all workshop functions. You will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow and positive customer outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Allocate work and lead the workshop team to ensure project timelines are met
  • Be a leader of safety through promotion and demonstration of safety behaviours and efficient reporting processes
  • Provide support and advice to the team as required to ensure minimal delays in jobs and better-informed decisions
  • Implement effective work order management to meet productivity targets and quality standards
  • Maintain positive customer relationships through external vendor management
  • Oversee roster management and approval of timesheets
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance processes, drive efficiencies and improve business operations


Skills & experience

  • Mechanical qualifications essential
  • Experience in mobile plant maintenance in a civil or mining setting
  • Previous WesTrac and/or Caterpillar experience desirable
  • Previous experience in supervising teams
  • Advanced organisational skills with ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads and delegate efficiently 
  • Ability to handle the pressure of deadlines and conflicting priorities
  • Management of needs between internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Computer literacy skills – MS Office & SAP
  • Ability to work successfully in a team & individually, whilst fostering positive working relationships
