Product Support Advisor
About the role
WesTrac is seeking an experienced Product Support Advisor to join their team based at Newcrest Cadia. This role is offered at a full-time Monday-Friday basis.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Product Support Advisor is responsible for enhancing the performance, reliability, and availability of our R3000 fleet. This includes improving preventative maintenance strategies and optimising equipment effectiveness, with a strong focus on reducing customer costs.
Acting as the link between Newcrest, Caterpillar, and WesTrac, the Product Support Advisor manages all information, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives while providing technical support to Newcrest’s site maintenance team. The role also includes completing agreed daily, weekly, and monthly reports to ensure operational transparency and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the customer’s maintenance team to monitor equipment condition and performance using oil analysis, status reports, and preventative inspection
- Recommend maintenance practices and operating conditions to maximise component life while monitoring equipment performance and adjusting status or condition to address performance losses
- Report all significant or recurring maintenance events that have the potential to result in significant production delays or avoidable high costs to the customer
- Provide guidance on maintenance and repairs, monitor recurring issues, and ensure OEMs or repairers address problems to minimise repeat failures
- Represent WesTrac at monthly and quarterly performance and contract review meetings and provide feedback via a monthly report
- Assist site maintenance staff with diagnosing equipment failures, applying recognised failure analysis techniques, and preparing reliability improvement reports in consultation with the customer’s Reliability Engineer
- Provide technical support for removal, repair, and installation procedures; review breakdown and component strip-down reports to identify major downtime causes and recommend corrective actions
- Assist planners with developing preventative maintenance plans, preparing scopes of work with recommended durations, and advising on parts requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment management processes and recommend actions
Skills & Experience
- Hold an Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar position with experience in condition monitoring (desirable)
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to develop strong positive relationships with customers
- Advanced organisational skills with proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities at once
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and interpersonal
- Advanced computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve complex workplace issues and customer disputes effectively
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team
