WesTrac is looking at another hugely successful year in 2020 with upcoming major projects in the pipeline. As a result of this recent growth, we have Permanent opportunities for a Leading Hand Heavy Duty Fitter to join our Port Hedland branch.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the hands-on supervision of trade and non-trade personnel as well as carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance to equipment brought into the branch

In addition to providing leadership to the workshop team, you will also be responsible for carrying out repairs, maintenance and servicing on Caterpillar equipment, carry out warranty repair work, product improvement plans and product support programs.

Job Details:  

This position will see the successful applicant working an 2/1 (Dayshift) FIFO ex Perth or Residential Roster 10 days on, 4 days off - 12 hr days.

 Job Duties:

  • Live the Values - Leads by example everyday through actions, behaviours and decisions Including compliance with WesTrac’s safety procedures, safe working practices and life- saving rules
  • Carry out repairs, maintenance and servicing on a range of Caterpillar Equipment
  • Completing warranty repair work and reports
  • Assign tasks to the crew to maximize productivity
  • Maintain customer relationships
  • Manage work orders including ordering parts as required
  • Carrying out Caterpillar product improvement plans and product support program
  • Maintaining safe work practices and a safe work environment

 To be successful the following is required:

  • Australian recognised Heavy-Duty Trade Certificate with a minimum of 2 years post trade experience
  • Leadership experience with the ability to build a cohesive team with a common goal
  • At least 12 months experience in a leadership role, or ability to demonstrate strong leadership strengths
  • Demonstrate strong safety values
  • Ability to organise work teams and delegate tasks
  • Extensive diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Working at Heights & Confined Spaces, Dogging & Basic Rigging, Forklift tickets/licences
  • Caterpillar product knowledge and maintenance experience
