TECHNICAL TRAINER AND ASSESSOR
In support of our continued growth we are seeking a Mobile Plant Technical Trainer and Assessor to join our team. In this role you will be primarily responsible for the delivery and review of educational and technical training aligned to WesTrac’s apprentice and trade upgrade strategy.
At WesTrac Institute we strive to be the leading training centre of excellence for mobile equipment. Just 30 minutes from Newcastle, our state of the art Institute in Tomago is a Registered Training Organisation which provides nationally accredited training through the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
This position will be offered on a full time permanent basis working Monday to Friday, 7am-4pm.
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility for the Trade Upgrade & Apprentice Programs
- Continuous improvement of course curriculum
- RPL assessments and delivery of accredited training
- Delivering to AQF requirements and workplace safety standards
- Educating a broad range of employees and external customers
Travel will be required on an ad hoc basis to deliver training across various NSW sites.

Skills & Experience
- Qualifications in Mobile Plant Technology and/or Heavy Commercial Vehicle with recent industry experience
- Preferred but not essential - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) and at least 12 months experience in a training and assessor role
- Excellent organisational & delivery skills, with the ability to plan, manage fluctuating workloads and conflicting priorities to achieve deadlines
- Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written and verbal with the ability to influence and inspire groups of people with a passion for transferring knowledge and skills
- Previous heavy machinery experience or exposure to Caterpillar products is desirable
- Intermediate computer literacy skills
- A demonstrated commitment to safety and the environment
- Drivers licence with the ability and willingness to travel
You will possess a professional and proactive approach to your work. As a strong communicator and influencer you will have the ability to work effectively with all levels of the business and will be adept in ensuring customer satisfaction during the learning experience.
