Position Purpose
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Finance Operations function within WesTrac.
This role is responsible for the integrity of WesTrac’s general ledger through the management of the reconciliation process and the resolution of unreconciled differences on a timely basis.
Additionally, the role is responsible for the identification and implementation of strategies aimed at optimising the operational finance function and developing supporting frameworks and policies.
The Accounting Manager will engage with key stakeholders within the business to ensure alignment between operational finance processes and business requirements.
The Finance Operations Manager will also act as a point of escalation and subject matter expert of all transitional taxation and operational finance matters.
Role Accountabilities
Manage the integrity of WesTrac’s financial statements– Oversee and review the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation process ensuring unreconciled differences are resolved in a timely manner.
Develop and implement a strategy aimed at optimising finance transactional processing, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, SAP functionality and WesTrac policies.
Design, communicate and execute the strategy to increase the efficiency of the Finance Operation team members and ensure alignment between strategy and day to day activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the business to develop a strong understanding of their operations to support an alignment between operational finance and business processes.
Engage with key stakeholders to educate the business on Operational Finance processes, ensure adherence to policies and provide advice on best practice.
Work with the CFO and Financial Controller – Corporate to contribute towards the annual review of Finance Policies including (but not limited to) the Travel Policy.
Education/Certificates
Tertiary qualifications within Accountancy or related field
CPA/CA qualification
Experience and Knowledge
Minimum 10 years post qualification experience within a large complex organisation
Minimum of 7 years People Management experience within a diverse accounting function
Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
Ability to coach and mentor junior and senior accountants
Previous experience utilising SAP
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal), including consultation, negotiation and facilitation skills to effectively liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
Strong problem solving and logical reasoning skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet objectives
Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously
