About the role:

Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to carrying out warranty and customer repairs on a range of CAT machinery and associated products in a timely and efficient manner. You will be required to carry out field service work on a regular basis throughout the Karratha Region, and you have access to the latest training and technical knowledge relating to the CAT product.

Armed with a field service ute, you will be required to visit customer sites to not only diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment, but also complete warranty repair work and reports. Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you will be responsible for identifying and recommending preventative maintenance on customer equipment.

Karratha is a city in the Pilbara region of WA, adjoining the port of Dampier. It was established in 1968 to accommodate the processing and exportation workforce of the Hamersley Iron Mining company and, in the 1980s, the petroleum and liquefied natural gas operations of the North West Shelf Venture. The city's name comes from the cattle station of the same name, which derives from a word in a local aboriginal language meaning "good country" or "soft earth".

  • 12 hours per shift

You will also be required to have sound customer relations and interpersonal skills and the ability to work completely unsupervised. Your responsibilities will also include;

  • Manage work orders including ordering parts as required
  • Carrying out Caterpillar product improvement plans and product support program
  • Deliver first class customer service

Essential Criteria:

  • Live the Values - Leads by example everyday through actions, behaviours and decisions including compliance with WesTrac’s safety procedures, safe working practices and life- saving rules
  • Australian recognised Heavy-Duty Trade Certificate with a minimum of 5 years post trade experience in a field service environment
  • Extensive diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in an isolated and remote environment
  • Ability to work and seek out work opportunities without continuous direct supervision
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and have a strong commitment to continuous improvement principles
  • Strive to assist the Customer to achieve machine availability and reliability KPI’s
  • Previous mechanical experience working on Caterpillar products

Desirable Criteria:

  • High Risk Work Licence (i.e. LF, DG, RG, EWP)
  • Working at Heights
  • Heavy Rigid Licence
  • Refrigerant Handling Licence
  • Familiarity with service literature
