About the role:

At WesTrac we strive to be the leading training centre of excellence for mobile equipment and Caterpillar technology training solutions. The WesTrac Institute is a Registered Training Organisation which provides nationally accredited training in mining and resources sector. WesTrac has opportunities for energetic and results driven Technology Trainers to join our growing Technology training team. 

WesTrac is accelerating the development and delivery of MineStar technology training solutions and industry leading autonomous hauling service (AHS) training. WesTrac has invested in a state-of-the-art Technology Training Centre in Collie. The training centre is resourced for MineStar Command for Hauling service training including a dedicated 789D Autonomous Haul Truck.

You will be joining a dynamic training team of certified Caterpillar service instructors who deliver world class technology training courses. As a Technology Trainer you will contribute to the continuous improvement of course curriculum and deliver material in accordance with workplace safety and industry standards.

In conjunction with Caterpillar, we offer training opportunities to ensure you are ready to take on this important challenge. This customised training and support will accelerate your learning and competency, ensuring we can better serve our customers, and together help us deliver on our vision. 

Technology training is predominantly delivered from our South Guildford or Collie campus’s. Site based training may be required on an as needs basis. The Technology team roster is 8 days on 6 days off.

Why is this role right for you?

To be successful in this role, you will have had previous experience installing, calibrating and commissioning MineStar Fleet, Terrain or Command on heavy mining equipment. Your experience servicing and maintaining caterpillar equipment with exposure to on-board software & hardware systems is essential. Previous experience training and mentoring groups is desirable but having a passion for developing others and sharing your technical knowledge is a must. You will need a strong customer service ethic, with the ability to influence and inspire groups of people.

You will possess a professional and proactive approach to your work. As a strong communicator and influencer, you will have the ability to work effectively, autonomously and interact with all levels of the business. We are interested in candidates that are adept in ensuring customer satisfaction during the learning experience.

To be successful the following is required:

  • Previous exposure to installing, calibrating and commissioning MineStar Fleet, Terrain and Command systems
  • Proven experience in servicing on heavy mining equipment enable with MineStar technology
  • Experience with training, facilitating workshops, mentoring groups is desirable
  • Exposure to supporting AHS programs from a technical background
  • Strong communicator and influencer with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the business
  • Strong customer service ethic with the ability to inspire groups of people and transferring knowledge and skills
