Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Product Support, the Service Operations Manager is accountable for the establishment and execution of the Strategic Product Support Operational Plan with a strong focus on Safety, Customer satisfaction, quality, efficiency and Safety.

The Service Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that the stores within their allocated areas operate in a manner that is safe, effective, and meets / or exceeds the customer expectations and WesTrac’ s financial performance objectives.  This role provides leadership to the Area Managers within their allocated areas.

Promote and embed a positive safety culture through demonstrated safety leadership practises including Safety Shares, Safety discussions, completion of Safety Interactions (SI’s), adhering to Personal Protective Equipment requirements and leading by example at all times. Ensure company safety procedures, safe working practices and Life Saving Rules are strictly followed, with the aim of reducing lost time incidents to zero. Ensure all accidents/near miss incidents/hazards are submitted as per WesTrac’s policy

Assist in the delivery of the Metropolitan Strategic Initiatives (plan) as approved by the Executive General Manager (EGM), Service Operations WA

Ensure Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) Action Plans are incorporated into the Annual Operational Plan and that Area Managers are aware of and held accountable to deliver on the actions within the agreed timeframe

Promote and delivery of the Caterpillar Service Excellence Programme. 

Remain abreast of current industry and market trends to enable commercially sound decisions to be made

Oversee all business unit activities to ensure store operating practices are within the agreed contract parameters and proactively work with the Area Manager/s to make improvements where applicable

In conjunction with the GM Product Support and other Regional Managers, work in a collaborative manner promoting strong communication within the team/s

About you

As the ideal candidate, you will have a well-developed business acumen and be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully manage budgets and analyse data and compile reports. You will also have had previous experience managing Client/Contractor Relationships and display excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills to allow in the effective management of these relationships as well as those with key stakeholders. You will also have: 

  • A Tertiary qualification in a relevant or associated field such as Engineering or Business, coupled with extensive industry experience.
  • Strong previous experience in people management leading large teams
  • Advanced computer literacy especially with Microsoft office suite
  • A high level of initiative and be able to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills to apply strategic and proactive measures to ensure efficient and effective resolution of issues
