Business Improvement Specialist - 12 month Fixed Term

This role joins our Perth, WA based Business Improvement Team and plays a key role in projects with a specific focus on LEAN methodology.  The team are highly skilled in 6 Sigma, CPS (Lean) and many other methods of improvement and work collaboratively on a wide range of business wide projects delivering success.  One position available: 12 month Fixed Term opportunity.

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Assist project sponsors in defining and justifying financial benefits
  • Engage stakeholders utilising effective change management techniques
  • Establish reporting framework applicable to stakeholder requirements and provide regular project status reports as required.
  • Create and Facilitate training sessions to business units as required.
  • Live the Values - Leads by example everyday through actions, behaviours and decisions
  • Support stakeholders in achieving business strategy by executing cross functional improvement projects.
  • Customise the project approach based on the business requirements to reach an effective outcome. 
  • Embed and support Caterpillar Production System lean principles by working with business units and coaching leaders to create value in their area. 
  • Improve business capability by planning, creating and delivering customised training programs ensuring knowledge is transferred by post training review. 
  • Apply strategic thanking beyond the boundaries of a project to ensure the impact on other areas of the business in understood and planned for.
  • Coach and train BI advisors in improvement tools and techniques using both formal or informal methods. 

 Further Accountabilities Include:

  • Mentor and coach leaders within the business unit in the utilisation of Lean principles and how to initiate WesTrac best practice
  • Conduct Lean Audits within the business; providing recommendations for improvement.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Relevant business or tertiary qualification
  • 2 to 5 years' experience within a Business Improvement role
  • Lean Black Belt
  • Ability to develop and conduct training
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyse large amounts of data
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously
  • Advanced computer literacy skills - MS Office, including MS Project, MS Visio, and internet-based applications and various Project Management tools 

Desirable:

  • Prince 2 Certification or equivalent project management qualification
  • 6 Sigma (DMAIC) Black Belt
  • 2 years' post qualification experience working in a Process Improvement related role
  • Business Management qualification
  • Change Management Certification
  • smartsheets, MS Power BI and Minitab applications
