Job Details:  

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the High Voltage (HV) Electrical Technical Specialist is responsible for providing high quality information and guidance on technical issues and/or problems within their designated Subject Matter Expert (SME) area to internal and external customers (customers and dealer personnel) within the Western Australian region for all Caterpillar and Caterpillar supported equipment.

This role will be located at our South Guilford facility with a minimal amount of regional & metro site travel. Roster will be 5:2 (Monday to Friday), 8 hours per day.

Job Duties:  

  • Provide complete customer care experience in regards to WesTrac service, repair and general service provision queries in relation to the allocated area of service/equipment
  • Act as the point of contact between the customer and the technician
  • Ensure the effective and efficient coordination electrical works whilst ensuring that the customer’s repair and service requirements are achieved with agreed timeframe and budget
  • ensure that the customer needs are investigated thoroughly and the solutions offered that add value to both the customer and WesTrac, thereby ensuring customer relationship longevity
  • Provide supervision, leadership and work order direction to a team of technicians within the designated area of work  to ensure safety and quality of work is of the highest standard
  • Hold the relevant qualifications to fulfil the duites of the Electrical Contractors Licence Nominee and management representative to ensure compliance with Australian Statutory Requirements


  • High Voltage Electrical Trade certificate with a minimum of 10 years post trade experience in the Industrial Electrical Industry with HV electrical rope shovels or an Electric Drive Trucks back ground.
  • Successfully completed the Electrical Contractor training program with competencies in the following modules:
  • General Legislative Requirements
  • Establishing a Contracting Business
  • Operation (Electrical) Legislative Requirements
  • Electrical Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
  • Demonstrated understanding as to the importance of effective Customer Management
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to successfully manage fluctuating workloads and prioritise accordingly
  • Highly developed communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal)
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to absorb technical information quickly
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills (including Microsoft Office)
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills to enable effective resolution of issues within the workplace and/or customer disputes
  • Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously
  • Hold a current Western Australian Electrical Licence


  • Completion or attainment towards Certificate IV Frontline Management
  • Diplomia in Business
  • Previous experience utilising WesTrac and Caterpillar systems
